The Wretch is a playable variant of John Ward in Chapter II and its Prologue. History behind this creature is overall a mystery, but context clues in Chapter III suggests that this is the true form of John and Lisa, his childhood friend. The Wretch visually looks similar to a stick doll, which are a jumble of sticks and dead twigs that oddly resemble a human. The key difference between the two.
